Spring Concert 2024

Spring Concert 2024

27 April 2024
Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles

Clio Zois – Conductor
Simon Diricq – Saxophone

On 27 April 2024 the Brussels Chamber Ensemble is back for another dazzling evening, this time in the Grande Salle of the Brussels Conservatoire. We will perform Belgian works to honour the Belgian Presidency of the Council. This includes Waignein’s long-lost and hauntingly beautiful orchestrated version of Complainte et Caprice for solo saxophone. It also includes Blockx’ festive Flemish Dances and a World Premiere of the winner of the BCE’s second composition competition, ‘Espoir’, by the 14-year old prodigy Ruben van Eldik.

After the intermission, we perform Brahms’ stunning 1st symphony. The symphony, which took the composer 20 years to complete, captures a trove of human emotions and ends with a wink to the “Ode to Joy”.
