From Denmark to Norway: A Musical Journey
From Denmark to Norway: A Musical Journey
22 October 2025
Flagey Studio 4
Clio Zois – Conductor
Jesper Busk Sørensen – Trombone
Our last concert showcasesed the gems of Danish and Norwegian classical music, including:
- A richly romantic overture In the Highlands by Denmark’s Niels Gade, inspired by the landscapes and folk traditions of Scotland;
- Axel Jørgensen’s bold and dramatic Suite, op. 22, a rare trombone concerto performed by Danish star Jesper Busk Sørensen of the Berliner Philharmoniker, revealing the lyrical beauty of the instrument;
- The world premiere of the winning work from our Composition Competition for Danish composers;
- Edvard Grieg’s beloved Peer Gynt Suites No. 1 and 2, bringing to life the dreamlike, haunting, and exhilarating soundscapes of Norway, including favourites like Morning Mood, Solveig’s Song, and In the Hall of the Mountain King.
